GYLI'S PREMIERE STEP TEAM FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE
The Step Team for Social Justice is the premiere performing group of the Global Youth Leadership Institute. These global ambassadors use step, dance, spoken word, music, and song to educate, advocate, and champion pro-social causes.
Lead by GYLI Creative Director, Melvin Miller, this group of 12 professional artist-athletes ranging in age from 18 to 30, collaborate across lines of race, culture, gender and religion to utilize their unique gifts and talents in service and contribution to a world where everyone matters. The team provides dynamic opportunities for professional youth and young adult artists-athletes to have a voice in shaping and building a better world through performance and professional training.
Through performance tours, lecture demonstrations, sport and arts education workshops, the team is committed to themes of peace, justice, love and equality. Take any theme you like, this team can create a tapestry of movement, song and dance that leaves audiences crying, laughing, inspired and energized.
To date the team has performed at over 200 churches, community organizations and public events in 9 states and 2 countries. They are also the proud winners of the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008 McDonalds Gospel Fests.
